Navigation in our vehicle is a great feature and many drivers find it useful but just like our smartphones our vehicle’s navigation system has to be updated so that it has the most up to date information on our changing roadways. The map files on it were April 2015 which I think was the update just prior to the current December 2015 update, so it doesn't seem the card was old and if it was older than 3 years and outside the update period it would not be a Navtec card, I think it would be Tom Tom.How to Update Your Mazda’s Navigation Maps If it happens to be a counterfeit card (and nothing about it or the packaging appears sloppy or fake) would there be some kind of protect that would invalidate the card when one tries to update it? I have not read about anything like that. My understanding is if this was a used card it would either not work from the get go if it had been paired with another vehicle, or it would work and pair with my VIN instantly if it had been installed in another car but not driven 62 mi. So it there is anything it seems I might be doing wrong? The seller is going exchange it for me, but I don't want to corrupt the new card. As I mentioned, the computer can read the card, so I don't think it's the card reader. Just no response from the program when I insert the card. In fact there was an update available so using the latest version. I just want the update.Īny thoughts about how safe it would be run the scan disk? or even why I might be getting the error message when the card works fine in the car? Has anyone else had this situation when updating? However, I'm a bit nervous to run this scan for fear that when it is done, not only might I not be able to update the maps, but it may no longer work in the car. I get this occasionally with USB flash drives. When inserted, Windows does give me the warning "Do you want to scan and Fix Removable Disk". I can see it in Explorer (using Win 7 Pro 64 bit) and it has content and license folders. I open toolbox, but when I insert the SD card. Followed the instructions and installed Mazda Toolbox. Now that I have had it about 3 weeks weeks and have driven over the 62 mile limit, I decided to update (has the April 2015 maps, but a December 2015 update is available. Anyway it works beautifully in my car and was not paired to another vehicle. Local dealer of course wanted full price plus "installation" (over $100 to slip an SD card into a slot?). Seller had a number of them in stock and appeared to be an out of state dealer. Was a bit concerned but bought it on eBay. Just bought a Nav card about 3 weeks ago. ![]()
